Agnes Browne

Decca Records

Music Composed by Paddy Moloney

Orchestrated and Conducted  by Ed Shearmur

Produced by Paddy Moloney

Release Date: 2000

This CD sounds more like a sampler for Irish folk music, opera, and Tom Jones instead of a soundtrack for a film. The disc is arranged in much the same way as Crazy in Alabama with score tracks being broken up by songs (which may or may not have been in the movie). It really doesn’t help that the score portions sound like Irish folk music instead of an orchestral piece with Irish overtones. The Tom Jones songs are so far off the style of the score tracks that they become irritating.

If you like Irish music you might want to give this one a spin. Otherwise, bad decisions in the production of this disc makes it a musical mess. *1/2
