Once again John Williams delivers a fantastic score to a Steven Spielberg movie. The whole score speaks of mystery, wonder, and terror. It works exceptionally well in the context of the film. The main theme is filled with emotions of wonder and amazement. The raptor motif is appropriately dark and foreboding.

Journey to the Island is a magnificent piece. With a highly uplifting version of the main theme, it is recommended to cheer up any dreary old afternoon. The piece darkens as a highly charged electric fence is discovered surrounding an area of the island (foreshadowing unpleasant things to come), but then lightens up as the jeeps reach the main compound. Welcome to Jurassic Park was used for the end credits in the film and stands as a good suite mixing the main themes that William's composed for this score. Dennis Steals the Embryo is a haunting track, as Dennis Nedry disables the security systems and steals the dino embryos. We hear a brief segment of scary "jungle music" as Dennis pauses his hand over the Raptor embryo before picking it up. Jurassic Park Gate is a fun piece with the main theme played in "jungle music" type fashion.

As with most of John William's scores, I heartily recommend this one. It's still floating around, so it shouldn't be hard to find. *****
