     No One Lives Forever is a quaint little game that came out a number of years ago, and it was the nice assortment of positive reviews coupled with the bundling of this album and a quite serviceable price of five dollars that led me to pick this up at a Wal-Mart not too long ago. The game itself was fine, though one thing that shocked me is that the music in the game is not the same as what is on the CD. The music in the game itself is some horrible MIDI-based music that stood out poorly and hindered the experience more than it helped. Thankfully, the Playstation 2 version of this title uses the music from the included album and as such is far more enjoyable.

     The music on this CD consists of some fun and energetic 60s-styled pieces that fit the mood of the game perfectly. Everything is just slightly sarcastic, as in the Austin Powers films, but there aren't any direct spoofs of actual spy film scores from that period. The music is performed by a small ensemble that actually sounds bigger than I suspect they are. The score manages to hit the sleezy lounge sound, the hyper action sequences, and the stealthy spy underscore all in one fell swoop with this album. In addition, a few songs round out the selections, with the most fun being found in the theme song.

     The last third of the album consists of remixes of selected tracks from the first two thirds. While such a makeup would seem to be cheap way of padding out the album, the remixes are through and breathe new life into those cues. Both the originals and the remixes have their strengths and the remixes are a welcome addition to the track listing.

     It's a shame that more information isn't available on this title, or that you can't come across it easier than buying the Game of the Year edition (though it is quite cheap). If you like fun, campy 60s music, then definitely pick up this title, even if for the CD and nothing else.
